Why Living off Campus Is the Best Idea for College Students

by | Nov 28, 2020 | General

One of the first choices that a college student will face is whether to live on campus or off-campus. It can be a weighty decision for some but, in the end, off-campus is usually a better choice. Here are some of the benefits of not living at the school you attend.

It’s Cheaper
Many students may think that living in their campus dorms is cheaper but this is simply just not the case. Not only does living on campus force you to buy pricey meal plans, but you also have to pay for parking and do not have access to lower-priced amenities such as laundry facilities. In fact, by purchasing your own washer and dryer, you can save a ton of money by also living in UGA off-campus housing.

No Wait List
On larger campuses, there is often a waitlist that is quite long. To add to the stress, you never know who you are going to be living with and may not like the person when you do finally move in. In fact, you may just want to live by yourself and avoid the whole roommate situation altogether. This can easily be done by moving into UGA off-campus housing

No Curfew
When you live on a college campus, the dorms are subject to a curfew. If you miss that curfew, you may experience being locked out of the dormitories until they open back up in the morning. By living off-campus, this situation can be totally avoided.
